And a lot of book it is, at 450 pages, you get real value.My greatest joy in reading this book is that it’s entertaining. Some passages remind me of Dave Barry, the humorist. If you don’t care about home inspections, saving money, or simplifying, you will still have a good time with these short, to the point, articles.That all these stories are written for the rural mountain and lake community of Hayesville, North Carolina, give the writing local charm, yet most of the advice will work anywhere.Turner hit this one out of the park. I highly recommend it.

Proud of you, Lisa Turner. This is an important and informative book for anyone who owns or is looking to own a home. My sisters and I were just talking about garbage disposals the other day. (Aren't our lives exciting?). I liked the practical specifics on what to do as you are selling a home. I don't care to go up in attics - I will leave that to the experts. But I am enjoying my softcover book and think it is cool that it is written by a female home inspector. Yours is an important profession for one of the largest purchases we make.

For the past couple of years I've been wondering if I should get the air ducts cleaned and whether I should hire a painter to paint the garage or to do it myself. So glad I waited until I found this book. It not only answered my questions, it did so in such a direct and simple manner,even an unhandy person like me could understand. I'm so jazzed by this book, I plan to give it as a house gift to everyone I know who is buying a new house or who could use some information about taking care of their current home.

This is a collection of newspaper articles the author wrote for her local paper in NC. There is some redundancy and most of the information is superficial, but it is a fun and light read. Certainly I would have read her column in the paper.
