Yum yum yum yum yum!! What else can I say about this book? I am a big fan of Claire Contreras because her writing style is fluid. Her storylines make sense and she keeps me wanting to turn the pages, or swipe-if you will. This book gave me exactly what I was hoping for and then some. The author delivered sheer perfection,Warren, aka "War", is a top star soccer player. Rich, handsome and a man with a reputation in the bedroom that has the ladies ready and willing the moment his cocky smile appears. He's used to getting what he wants, when he wants it and not having to put much effort in doing so....until he sees Camila. "Clapping hands!"Camila is a woman who knows what it's like to live a life of privilege. She also knows what it"s like to have that life ripped away. Now living in a world completely different from what it once was, she holds her own and remains true to herself. Sure, when she first sets her eyes on Warren, she finds him attractive but she knows better than to get involved with someone like him. Someone who would mess with her community and put people out on the streets, just to gain a profit. She has no idea that he's a famous soccer player or just an investor checking in on his investments. So despite the initial attraction, she keeps him at bay. And so the chase begins. " Quick, tiny, fast clapping hands!"I love..love...love the fact that War has to chase her. Put forth his best efforts and not have Camila immediately fall for all of his charms. Bit by bit he breaks her down until finally, finally....they come together. And when they do, my goodness- it is so freaking hot!This is the kind of book that has you cheering and rooting for them. Making you say, "WTF!" And have you wanting to both smack and hug the main characters all in one shot. Cocky has moments of sweet and strong has moments of weakness.I love when a book gets you truly invested in the characters. Makes you feel all the feels and gets you a little flushed in between. The Player did that for me and I'm sure it will do it for you too. I highly recommend this book and hope you enjoy it even more than I did. It was solid GOAL!!- excuse me, Solid Gold!

This book was awesome!The Player is about Warren, a talented soccer star who plays in the United Kingdom. He comes to New York on vacation and on family business where he meets Camila. Camila is from a family that fell from grace and she took it hard. Now she works for a non profit and can’t afford much, but she works hard and knows what she wants in life.Warren is used to women falling all over him based on his looks and celebrity status. So when he pursues Camila and is shot down, he’s genuinely surprised, but still eager to go out with her. Camila is unsure of Warren, his fame and his fortune. She doesn’t want to tame the player, she’s tried that before and failed. But there’s something drawing them together, and they can only fight the attraction for so long.“If you're at the other end of the chase, it would be impossible for me to be disappointed.”I honestly was hesitant to go into this book, and yet at the same time I was intrigued. I’m not a big fan of the whole hot guy cover trend, and was worried this book was going to be all hot and no plot. That wasn’t the case here, we got a sweet and touching story with some very emotional and poignant moments thrown in.This book pulled and yanked at all my emotions, at first it was hard to think a player like Warren was serious about Camila, but as the book went on I found myself a believer in change. There’s always something thrilling about seeing the player settle down, and I loved the way Warren fell for Camila. The attraction between the two of them was so charged, you could feel it coming off of the page.I loved Camila as a heroine, she was quiet yet strong. She had to work hard for what she had and didn’t back down easily. She was also cautious, which I respected. It was so refreshing to read a romance where the heroine doesn’t follow at the heroes feet two seconds after meeting him. And I have mad respect for Camila (and Claire) for that.If you want to read something explosive, filled with tension and longing, this is the book for you.“I'd give up my career to chase moments with the right woman.”

I got an emergency email from a friend of mine insisting I check out this book. She's getting to know my tastes pretty well, so I jumped on it. She recommended I listen to the audible version, but I opted to read it instead. I did check out a sample and holy hotness Batman! I get why she suggested it!For the first several chapters, I wondered if "reading" it was a mistake. Warren took some time to warm up to. He was clearly attracted to Camila, but didn’t seem interested in much more than getting her in his bed. He even told her as much. As the book progressed, it became clear he was developing strong feelings for her (and vice versa), and that’s when I became invested.The Player held my attention all the way through, but I didn’t go gaga over it until the 80% mark. And then…SWOON. At one point (4:30 this morning, to be exact) both characters made me so angry I emailed above mentioned friend a WTF?! Warren had said the absolute worst thing and Camila responded...badly. I *briefly* considered DNF'ing, but I figured I was probably cranky and judgy from reading ALL FREAKING NIGHT. Good thing. I would have missed out on some textbook angst and one of the most rewarding HEA’s I’ve read in a while.
